4 Kid-Friendly Suburbs in Dallas-Fort Worth

Looking to move to North Texas? If you’re like most parents, you want an area that is safe, with great schools and near lots of things to do. Most of Dallas-Fort Worth fits this bill, but some areas are more convenient for families with children than others.

Where you live in the metroplex can have a big impact on quality of life and the good news is that we’ve seen them all. Here are five DFW suburbs we’d recommend for families with children.

1. Frisco

One of the fastest-growing suburbs in DFW for years, Frisco is home to a huge number of new restaurants and entertainment options. A variety of professional sports teams have their practice facilities and stadiums in this family-friendly suburb and there is even a Universal theme park planned for Frisco. Dude Perfect, IKEA, T-Mobile and other companies are headquartered in Frisco and the school district is rated among the best in the state.

2. Keller

Keller and the nearby cities of Southlake, Watauga and Westlake are all sought-after suburbs for families with children in Dallas-Fort Worth. There are lots of options when it comes to well-rated schools and churches in this area and the residences are some of the finest you’ll find. This part of town is also known for its parks, hiking trails and other outdoor attractions.

3. Colleyville

Colleyville and the surrounding areas have some of the highest property values in DFW, and for good reason. In addition to the stunning homes and ample acreage, Colleyville boasts a well-loved government, transportation and education system. The city was originally a series of rural settlements and maintains a “small town feel” that families enjoy to this day.

4. Coppell

Another city that feels like a small town is Coppell. Nestled away in the heart of Dallas-Fort Worth, Coppell is conveniently accessible to most of the metroplex, but with all of the amenities you could want as a resident. The local schools are top rated as well and routinely compete for state championships.

5. Allen

At the cost of a little convenience (due to commute times), the Allen, McKinney and Plano areas are ideal for families. In addition to ample land and outdoor space, these areas have top-rated schools, safe neighborhoods and exciting new restaurants and entertainment spots opening regularly. It’s within easy reach of areas with a variety of nightlife options (like Addison and Far North Dallas), but not close enough for it to impact everyday life. Housing in these DFW suburbs tends to be more affordable than in many areas of Dallas and other suburbs.

These are just a few suburbs we’d recommend. If you’re planning a move to the area soon, go with the Dallas-Fort Worth movers you can trust and contact IMS Relocation today for a quote!
